Six months after the electric grand finals at the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive ELeague Major, the two finalists are coming together once again for a rematch with $250,000 on the line.
ELeague is hosting a prize match called Clash for Cash: The Rematch this summer, featuring Major champions Astralis and second-place team Virtus.pro. The Major grand finals in January was a close 2-1 victory for Astralis and broke viewership records on Twitch (which could’ve partially inspired the rematch idea).
A Major finals rematch like this has never been done in Counter-Strike history, at least not with this level of fanfare and production.
The event, which reads more like a WWE pay-per-view than a traditional esports event, will be broadcast live on TBS, Twitch, and YouTube on June 16 at 10 p.m. ET.
ELeague is owned by Turner Broadcasting, which also is an investor in Mashable.
